OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH Standard Chartered Bank (GOAL)
Helping to transform the lives of adolescent girls through sport-based play and life skills education
Standard Chartered Bank believe that ‘everyone deserves the opportunity to realise their potential’. Their global initiative Futuremakers aims to tackle inequality and empower young women from disadvantaged backgrounds. Since 2019, Street League has worked in partnership with Standard Chartered Bank, The Standard Chartered Foundation and Women Win to deliver their award-winning Goal Programme. The programme was delivered in schools across London and Liverpool to transform the lives of 892 adolescent girls through sport-based play and life skills education. Throughout the programme, participants developed self-awareness, learned about their rights, money-management and cultivated the skills needed to achieve their full potential.
Fast forward to 2024, the Goal programme has evolved to support young women into decent employment. With funding from The Standard Chartered Foundation secured until 2027, Street League will deliver the Goal Accelerator, an innovative 10-week programme that aims to support over 200 young women and non-binary young people between the ages of 18-30 from underserved and underrepresented communities in London and Liverpool. It will use the power of sport to equip them with the essential skills to secure employment and contribute to the UK economy.
“We’re delighted to be working with Street League in the UK to deliver the Goal Accelerator in London and Liverpool. We are leveraging their strength as a sports-for-employment charity, and our network of colleagues, clients and partners to create meaningful outcomes for all our participants.”
Sonia Rossetti, Regional Head Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing
“We are so grateful for the support from Standard Chartered and the impact this partnership will have on so many young women across London and Liverpool between 2024 and 2027. Goal Accelerator is such an important and vital programme to ensure we are there for young women who face inequality and disadvantage in their daily lives. We recognise the increasing need to provide a safe, supportive and inclusive space for young women to gain essential skills and succeed in the world of work, and we are immensely excited about potential this partnership will have young women’s futures across the UK.”
