A NIGHT TO REMEMBER: THE MACQUARIE CAPITAL CUP

In October, we hosted the inaugural Macquarie Capital Cup, a five-a-side football tournament which raised an incredible £200,000 in one night.

Macquarie Capital invited a range of companies from the city to compete in the World Cup-themed fundraiser, with 16 teams donating, to battle it out under the spotlights. Equitix, playing as Ecuador, lifted the trophy after a fiercely contested final match against KKR, with a penalty shootout separating the two sides.

All teams were accompanied by a young person from a local Street League Academy. This was a fantastic opportunity for our young people to talk to people that work in the city, feel part of a team, and build their confidence. It was great to see all teams embracing their young people, allowing them to give team talks and lift the trophy.

We were joined on the night by England legend Stuart Pearce, who told some great World Cup stories, delivered inspiring speeches to our young people, and handed out the trophies to the winners.

Earlier this year, we launched a three-year partnership with Macquarie to support young people in Edinburgh into jobs, education, and training. Macquarie chose to support Street League because our work aligns perfectly with their Foundation's focus on social mobility.

We express our sincere gratitude to all the teams that donated. Your generosity goes a long way in helping young people caught in long-term unemployment gain vital skills, obtain meaningful work, and pursue a more prosperous future.

A special thanks to everyone at Macquarie who went above and beyond to make this tournament a huge success.

Here is to next year!
