Functional Skills Tutor

Niall Berrett

Niall is our Functional Skills Tutor – he has been in this role since May 2020, but originally started with Street League as a Progressions Coordinator in October 2019. He is responsible for delivering English and Maths Functional Skills qualifications to our young people and supporting them through their learning journey. Before coming to Street League Niall worked as a manager of maths and English tuition centre where he managed a team of 20 tutors, delivered high quality customer service to members and oversaw the day-to-day running of the centre.

Favourite Sport

Rugby League – he has played the game since he was 6 years old. He also enjoys running as well as watching boxing and football (he is a long-suffering Halifax Town fan).

First Job

Niall’s first job was working as a warehouse assistant for Don Whitley Scientific in Bradford when he was 16 years old. He worked there during the summer holidays between finishing secondary school and starting sixth form. Niall enjoyed working in the warehouse and says that he developed a strong work ethic from it, as well as learning a few handyman skills. He also enjoyed getting to know customers who came to pick up deliveries and having his own hard-earned money!

Working for Street League gives me the opportunity to support young people to realise their potential, by giving them the chance to achieve the qualifications they need, in a supportive and fun learning environment
