Street League prepares for Euro Football Festival

May 22nd - 25th, Foca, Bosina and Herzegovina

A team of 8 Street League players is flying out to Bosnia and Herzegovina in May to take part in the first European Street Football Festival. Twenty-four teams from organisations across the continent have been selected to take part for their work in the field of Development Through Football.

The tournament will be held in Foca, a well known football centre in the Balkans, where a youth football tournament was held prior to the Bosnian War in the early 1990s. Last year a tournament was held for the first time in ten years, and this year an even bigger event is being staged by Street Football World to celebrate the social dimension of football. The event is aimed at 14-18 year olds, boys and girls, and Street League is taking four players each from its centres in London and Glasgow.

As well as playing football, players and staff will have the opportunity to take part in activities to promote the use of football as a tool for social development, and Street League's staff team of Ben North and Ally Dawson will be delivering a workshop on the charity's effective delivery of a sport and educaiton programme in the UK.

It promises to be an excellent few days, and a competitive tournament on the pitch with Street League drawn in the group stages against teams from France, Germany, Serbia, and the hosts Bosina and Herzegovina.
